Core local tools

Everyday PDF work without a core upload step

These tools map to the current browser-local workspace, with safety limits shown before download.

Local processing boundary

The core workflow stays in the browser

1Open files in the page

The browser file picker hands supported PDFs and images to this tab.

2Process in the browser

Page edits, overlays, OCR, password protection, redaction checks, local compression attempts, and metadata cleanup run in client code and workers.

3Download a local Blob

The download link appears after the browser builds the PDF, JPG, or ZIP export. No core upload step is required.

Plain answers

Local-first PDF questions

What does local processing mean?

For core tools, PDFs and images are opened with browser file APIs, edited in the browser tab, and exported as a local download.

Do I need an account?

No. Free basics work without a PrivateLocalPDF account. The Local License restores with a license key, not an account login.

Will there be a watermark?

No watermark is added to basic local exports. Paid local limits are shown before gated actions instead of watermarking a completed free export.

Which tools upload my file?

The reviewed OCR PDF, password protect, and redaction workflows run in the browser and do not send document bytes to a processing server. AI, cloud storage, and optional server processing are not included by default and must be clearly labeled before they are added.

What does metadata cleanup remove?

It creates the export without standard document-info fields where supported. It is not redaction and does not remove hidden text, comments, layers, attachments, form data, visible content, or every possible metadata value.
